Ingredients

  • 250 g Penne pasta uncooked
  • 400 g Ground beef lean
  • 3 medium Fresh tomatoes chopped
  • 1 medium Onion diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 15 ml Olive oil extra virgin
  • 5 g Salt to taste
  • 2 g Black pepper to taste

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, then drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the chopped fresh tomatoes and season with salt and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook the penne in a pot of boiling salted water until al dente, according to package instructions. Drain and reserve a bit of pasta water.
  • Toss the cooked penne in the skillet with the beef and tomato sauce. If needed, add a splash of reserved pasta water to help the sauce adhere. Stir well to combine.
  • Serve hot, garnished with grated cheese and fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Tip: For added texture, you can bake the assembled pasta in the oven for a few minutes to brown the cheese on top.
