For the Sandwich Base

  • 8 slices brioche or challah bread thick slices
  • 2 tbsp butter for the pan

For the Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar plus extra for dusting
  • 0.5 cup fresh strawberries thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup strawberry preserves

For the Coating

  • 2 large eggs cold
  • 3 tbsp whole milk

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and mix until smooth and fluffy.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on four slices of bread, avoiding the edges.
  • Top with sliced strawberries and a spoonful of strawberry preserves on each slice.
  • Place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches. Press gently.
  • In a shallow dish, beat the eggs with milk to create a coating mixture.
  • Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
  • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed warm. Try adding whipped cream or maple syrup for an extra indulgent finish. You can also substitute strawberries with other berries like raspberries or blueberries.
