2slices bread (sourdough, whole grain, or brioche)
1tbsp butter (softened)
1/2cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or pepper jack)
1slice ham (optional)
2slices avocado or tomato (optional)
Pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
Butter one side of each bread slice.
Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place one bread slice butter-side down, then layer cheese and add-ins (egg, avocado, etc.). Top with the second bread slice, butter-side up.
Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese melts. Press lightly with a spatula.
Slice and serve immediately!
Notes
For extra crispiness, spread mayo instead of butter on the bread. Customize with pesto, jalapeños, or apple slices!
