Instructions
Start with a sturdy crust by mixing your chosen crumbs with a bit of butter and a pinch of salt, then press firmly into your pan.
Bake briefly just to set the crust’s edges, then let it cool while you prepare the filling.
For the filling, beat cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add sugar, vanilla, and eggs, one at a time, until fully mixed.
Fold in melted dark chocolate until the batter looks shiny, and swirl in a little cherry component if you like.
Pour onto the crust and bake until the center has a slight jiggle; remember, it will firm up as it cools.
Let the cake cool at room temperature, then chill thoroughly in the fridge before slicing.
A light garnish of chocolate shavings and fresh cherries makes it look even more appealing.
